        BOCA RATON, Florida, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Highland Wireless Services, L.L.C. (Highland) announced today that the Florida Department of Transportation has awarded the company a single source contract to provide primary communications between its SUNGUIDE Transportation Management Center and fleet of "Road Ranger" service patrol units.

        Highland will install radio equipment valued at $150,000 into 34 vehicles, which will communicate with the Management Center over dedicated voice channels on the company's privately owned network spanning Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

        William McCulloch, Chief Operating Officer, stated, "The Road Ranger program is an initiative by Florida DOT that has greatly improved driver safety and traffic congestion on South Florida highways. We are eager to contribute to this effort. Our role is to provide SUNGUIDE with a superior communications system in every respect, and support it 24/7."
